Comments Needed on Ozark National Forest
SITUATION
Arkansas’ Ozark National Forest (White Rock) has announced impending action to attempt to close down large sections of the forest to almost any kind of human visitation - biking, hiking, motorcycles, mountain biking, etc.
The Ozark-St. Francis National Forests Plan Revision comment period has been extended until Monday, June 27.
WHAT TO DO
Concerned motorcycle and ATV enthusiasts should provide polite, concise, and pertinent comments about what the availability of public recreational opportunities means to you and your family and the need for motorized trails within the forest plan.
Comments may be sent to the plan revision team via US Mail at: Plan Revision; Ozark-St., FrancisNational Forests, 605 West Main St.; Russellville, AR 72801; via email at r8.ozark.planning@fs.fed.us; or via Fax at 479-964-7285.
Groups including the Tulsa Trail Riders and others are attempting to show support widespread community support against this action. Your letters and comments are needed now to continue recreational opportunities in the forest.
Tulsa Trail Riders has provided two links (below). These are letters to print off and mail in - one is a Microsoft Word document to open, the other is a web page to print off (for those who don't have MS Word).

Responses are to be received by the Forest Planning group by June 27, so time is of the essence.
Some tips to remember when commenting on the Plan Revision effort:
All comments must include the person’s name and mailing address.
Submitting a comment is not a voting process-they are considered and analyzed on the basis of content, not quantity.
The most effective comments would include specific, comparative, or solution oriented information.
Copies of the draft plan are available online at www.aokforests.com.
