Okay my never ending search for the perfect cheap haul rig goes on. I've been looking into the cargo vans and conversion vans. The cargo vans always have rudimentry cockpits while the conversion vans are usually beat to ****! I stopped to look at a van today and than saw that it was a window van. However it was clean had AC and crusie control for the long hauls and didn't look so bad. It had 192k on the clock so i blew it off. But i've been told that window vans usually have an easier life and you dont get all the road noise. I've been told not to worry about the windows, just cover them w/black contact paper. I live in an urban enviroment and the van would be out side w/the bike in it. The security issue is a concern. the van i saw w/120 on the clock would have been tempting, but all that glass worries me. Anyone got any thoughts or experience w/ these things!!

Thanks

My window van has 240,000 miles and has some left. The best thing about a window van is that you can see out. The worst thing is the fuel mileage.

I believe that my next setup will be an American sedan, for good fuel mileage and comfort, pulling a light weight enclosed trailer.

In an urban environment I'd shy away from all that glass because there is nothing to stop somebody from smashing it to see why you had to put black contact paper on the glass. A box or a cargo with a secured back would seem the best choice for you.

You could always screw in some plywood to the interior to cover the windows.. We do that to our cargo vans (not the windows, but the inside walls)

Window van with 230,000- on a 305 and a "bad year" 700-R4. Limo tint on the windows is dark enough that you can't see a bike in there unless you really look.
