Winter riding spots?

Hey guys, where would be a good trail to ride this weekend. Is there anything in the Houghton lake area that's decent this time of year? I'm itching to use my trelleborgs on some trail instead of riding the boring fields around my house. I was thinking Evart but I would Imagine the snow is over my head there. Anyone know the snow depth? :)

I think it's looking pretty grim right now, the snow is really deep every where. I suppose you can try Gladwin maybe.

Rumor has it that on Cavanaugh Lake in the Chelsea area. You take the Kalmbach rd I94 156 exit. This Saturday there going to have ice racing "none sanctioned" @ their winter festival. I'm hoping to get out there after work.

Ice racing on Cavanah Lake? I know a couple ppl that live on the lake. I can make a few calls, and see what the scoop is. :thumb:

Everything starts tonight over @ the legion hall. Talked to a red head'ed busy body here @ work. He say's that on sat almost anything goes, "as in speed" laws. But Sunday the DNR are going to try to keep the people sane. As for the track he sez's he only knows of drag racing.

Gladwin would be about the only trail that you might be able to navigate. Everything else, I imagine, has too much snow.
Just went through the Rose City/Luzerne/Ambrose Lake loops a week ago, which had 18" less snow than now, and they impassable by bike. We hit a bit of the Ambrose loop with the sleds and the snow was deep for them. Think pushing snow over the hood of the sled if you were going slow on the trail...
You could try up by Newberry though, they only have 48" of snow on the level. Wow.
