I tried to remove my X-ring chain today so I could remove the swingarm. The tricks I once used to remove the stock non-X-ring chain aren't working on this new X-ring chain. No matter how I try (needle-nose pliers, Channel Locks), I can't get the master link to come apart.

Is there a special tool or trick I can use to get this X-ring master link apart?

Is this on your kdx 200? If so you should be able to remove the swingarm with your chain still linked. Just remove the front sprocket from the chain then take the chain off the rear and remove the front sprocket. Then just remove the swingarm.

With my x-ring chain, I just get a bigger flathead screwdriver, put it up against the open side of the retainer, then gently I just tap the retaining clip out. I just try to keep the screwdriver as flat with the chain as possible so I'm basically tapping in the direction the chain drives.
