Hey,
I'm getting bored on my XR 200 so my dad has agreed to buy me a bigger XR. We were looking at the 250, but the dealership has a two year old XR 400 in immaculate condition for a steal of a deal.

My question is this: Will the 400 be too much bike for me? I'm a 5'11" 150 lb 16 year old with around 4-5 years of experience under my belt.

Also, around how much power do each of the bikes make?

Thanx in advance for the help

Both are excellent bikes, but I'd urge you to get the XR400. Ergos and dimensions are similar and it only weighs about 15lbs more. I'm 5'9" and 170lbs and have no trouble riding the 400. All XRs have good torque and easy-to-control power. The 400 has plenty of power for everything I need to do and more. Since you're already experienced, you'll likely be able to do more with the 400 and enjoy riding it for longer.

Stock HP stats are about 22-23 for the XR250 and 30-32 for the XR400. But torque is where they really excel versus other bikes. Both can be significantly modified if you want more power.
