I may be a bit crazy but I'm thinking of sticking a XR250 motor in a blowd up 01 WR 250 F frame. I only race about 1 per year, I mostly ride trailrides and playride. I also dont want
the maintance of these new hyperspace bikes, or radiators to wreck. What do you guys reckon ?

I reckon you would be wrecking something. It would depend on why you want to that swap . if you are looking for a cheap fun bike it probably would be cheaper to part out the wr250 and just buy a used xr250,ttr 250 or kdx 200. If you want to do it just because you want to play in thegarage I think the swap would be fun to do .

My way of thinking the backyard engineering, fabricating and solving problems to do the swap would probably be more fun than actually riding the bike

I know a guy that put a XR200 engine in a yz250f frame. It works great for offroad racing it tight gnarly stuff. He usually finishes in the top five if not first and has beat me many times on my ktm 300 or 200.
It would be a good idea if you can do it.

Im confused. Wouldnt an xr 200 motor in the yz250f be slower?

Why not just put the 250f motor in a yz80 frame! Now that would be cool.
Or put a 250f motor on a 125 frame.

I would think to put something bigger in it.
(sorry, im an old hotrodder at heart.)
I rememberat an enduro back in Pa. some guy had this nice little 4 stroke Kawaski (KLX ??) 250.
It was older, but real clean, complete with the oem 250 graphics. But something was really weird about it at first glance.
I walked over to check it out, looked down at the cases, and got an ear to ear grin.
I looked at the guy (who was grinnin right back) and said:
"500??"
He says: "nope, 600cc's out of an old Honda XL."
Way kewl! And street legal.
Bet he catches a few guys anawares at stoplights now and then, eh?
