XR600 Needs More Light

Some day it is going to come back to bite me, but now that I have a motorcycle with a headlight the end of the day creeping up on my ride doesn't even figure in my plans. As such the poor light output annoys me. It does a great job of lighting up the front fender, but the total light output is poor. It has some aftermarket coil with 3 separate phases, but is only using one of them. There are 5 poles wound. What can I do here? Do I need a different headlight? Can I use more of the windings? And how does that goofy voltage regulator work?
