I currently own a 2001 kdx 220 and plan to buy a new bike at the end of the season. I think I have decided to go with the yamaha WR. But the quesion is, do I want the 250 or the 450. I ride in tight woods, but there is also a lot of times where there are straight aways. The kdx is a nice bike but it just isn't fast enough on the top. I have done several mods to it, and compared to what it started out as it's a rocket, but with the guys I ride with I'll have the bike wide open and they will still blow by me. Anyways, how does the 250 compare to the kdx? And is the 450 overkill or would you recomend to go with it. Lastly is the Yamaha WR the way to go? THANK YOU

What do your friends ride? Personally I don't like the way the racing 4-strokes run in tight situations(even w/ a WR trans). However, from what I hear the KTM ande Husky 4-stroke EXC's are the way to go(in a 4st). Personally, I'd recommend a KTM 250-300 EXC as an 'upgrade' from a KDX. Depending on how tight of woods you ride, you probably already own the best bike!
