Yesterday, Thumbs and I picked up my brand new WR250F. :) I was grinning like a school girl after her first kiss the whole way home. Got her home uncrated her, checked eveyhting, and fired her up for a few laps around the neighborhood. No starting issues once initially started ( the Idle was too low out of the box), and it was all I could do to restrain myself from ripping the throttal open and letting her fly. I gotta break her in ya know. All the neighborhood kids brought out their new 50's and 70's and we had a little dirtbike ride around the block. After 10+ years of riding, this is my first brand new bike:) Now its time for some mods! :aj:

Man do I have to work today!

Thanks again Thumbs for your help. And to Ol89er in advance.

Congrats!! Awesome feeling. Suggestion. First chance you get, drop it and get it over with. Right there in the driveway. Just drop it. :think

I agree with Okie. Just put her up on the stand and kick it over. It will help with the shock of thrashing 5K worth of machine in the woods. I have had a new bike many years ago (not a dirtbike). I remember the likeing the feeling. Enjoy the new machine.

Is this suggestion from personal experience? :p

I figure I'd let it fall off the trailer and drag it a few miles like LT did to his XR. There's an example to set the bar at.:o

That's the understatement of the year. It was like Christmas morning for a 6 year old child with the exception of the drool dripping off his bottom lip.;)

Congrats to my brother from another mother. Now lets get out to the dez this Sunday for some of this ...... :aj:

The first scratch hurts the worst. Drop and get it overwith, preferably with no one watching.:p

Yep, Scar, you're right about the trailer thing. I think I've set a record for both sides of the spectrum -- still cry over any scratch on the GasGas, yet broke the XR in just about the roughest way I could imagine.

Now, as to putting your bike on a stand and knocking it over -- I'm just a phone call away. ;)

Ain't it nice to have good friends?:p

Congrats Scar. Okie is right on. Just get that first crash over with. Otherwise you will be trying to wrap your body around it like LongTime every time you drop it.

I'll never forget the first scratch on LT's GasGas. Sure glad I didn't have anything to do with it.:debil:

p.s. Stroker should be done with the KLX this week. I'm planning a ride through Holcomb Creek on Sunday.

David says the temps have been high enough to thaw the "ice-dirt", so I'm really eager to ride the woods again. Looks like Sunday. I have to haul into Big Pine (bought a used baja designs kit for $200, there's another one on octrader.com for $250 if you're interested).

I figure to ride out of Big Pine around 10:30 and do the Holcomb, Deep & Malcolm loop. David, Yvo, Dale and a few other riders should be there. You'll probably run rich, but that should good for break-in. Turtleneck or a T-shirt under jersey might be wise. Let me know.

Another huge congrats! I have a question.......can you request the new bike be left in the crate? Is this something you can do only if you are in good with the dealer or will most decent dealers do this for you?

Most dealers if shipping the bike would prefer to leave it in the crate. However, if the bikes from the showroom floor they might not unassemble it for you. You can also avoid there set up charge that way. FYi there are quite a few parts to assemble fromteh crate, nothing hard but more than just he front tire as some suggest.
