Yz450f engine in a Yz426f frame?

Hi my buddy just blew up his Yz426 and was looking to get a new motor. The case has a big chunk out of it and I don't see the transmition looking any better. He found a 06 Yz450f engine and was wondering if it would fit in a 2000 Yz426f frame. I am not sure if yamaha made any changes to the frame from 2000 to 2006 so i'm just asking if anyone knows if this will work. Thanks

they made a lot of changes. The swingarm and mount with linkage totally changed in 02. If you had an 02, might have a chance. But 00-01 will not without a lot of work.

You can know for sure if you get the yamaha technical seminar update books for 01, 02 and 03. They will detail the changes of each model for the year.
