04 Crf250x

Hey There,

I have an 04 crf250x. I was thinking of changing out the rear sprocket. I am currently running a 53. I ride trails and little hill climbs. My first gear is pointless. Would would happen if I were to jump down to a 51?

Sorry if this is a dumb question, I am new and still learning.

you will get more top speed, less acceleration. So your first gear would seem taller probably more useable. But your spread between the other gears may be to much
