I found a bike locally that is a 2001 KX 250. The bike is as close to new as I have ever seen a used bike. Not a scratch or dent on it. No paint wear, original tires and sprokets, etc. It sat in storage for two years and the rest of the time it was ridden very little. The owner who is in his 40's tells me the bike has less than 20 hours of riding and I believe him by looking at the bike. Seeing that it is a 2001 it is now 4 years old but what do you think it is worth?

I usually don't find these prices to be accurate. It lists the value on a 99 kx 250 at $2655 and I see 98-99 bikes for around $1500 which is a full $100 less than KBB. I was hoping someone had recently purchased or sold a similiar bike and could give me a more realistic number.

They are asking 2K. Seems reasonable but I already have a 99. Was just thinking about getting it if it is a really good deal and then I could sell mine for 1500-1800 and be in a newer bike for 300-500$$

Well, I just bought a 2001 KX250 with hardly any hours on it, you could tell. Stock everything, no scratches or dents (well a couple scratches) But it's just nicely broken in. He didn't have time to ride it since he bought and is older. I picked it up for $2900 CANADIAN. I don't know what that translates into american but I thought it was a pretty good deal.

Have you ridden it? You may not like it. The KX was bike of the year 97-99. Apparently (sorry 01 owners, this is just what I recall the mags spewed out), after that the KX hasn't seen a podium at the so-called 'shootouts' until this year.....for whatever it's worth, and if you believe in the shootouts. ;)
