1) 6'5 215lbs
2) reasonably aggressive
3) mx, limited trail
4) prior to a 3 year hiatus, 5 years experience
5) race at occasional club days
6) im not super mechanically minded but am used to basic 2t maintenance
7) i dont really have a preference to 2t or 4t, i havent ridden a high revving oversquare modern 4t before - however the maintenance intervals and associated costs/effort seem a little scary
i live in australia and plan on spending enough to buy an 03-04 250 or 04 250f...
basically i think a 450 will be too much bike for me, as im getting back into the sport after a couple year break (and was never serious/good to begin with). i used to ride a 92 kx250, which was fun.
my thinking is that if a 250f can haul my weight around rapidly enough, ill probably have more fun racing in that class (i have never raced before) and could put up with the associated costs, rather than running a 250 2 smoke against the big snorters and getting absolutely trounced.
does anyone of similar size race 250f's competitively, and how will a 250f line up against a 250 2t of similar vintage?
