Haven't you seen all the chain lubes they sell at the local motorcycle shop? I like PJ1 Black Label.
Lots of people here like Jaybird's lube at http://www.mx1000.com. I haven't tried it yet . . .
WD40 is not much of a lubricant, from what I understand. It has its uses, but there are far better things for lubing a chain.
indynotch50 said:I agree with Robwbright, WD-40 is a penatrant, it's good for breaking bolts loose. Go to any cycle shop and get their stuff, it's specially made for what you're doing.
robwbright said:It's kinda ironic since there are better penetrants than WD40 - so I'm not sure if it's the BEST thing to use for anything. ;)
droopie69 said:It's not a penetrant. It's a Water Dispersant. The best thing you can use on things that RUST or in your electronics if they get wet. That's what WD stands for. It's ok for door hinges but like has been said, it's not a great lubricant, especially since it is sticky....not the ideal thing for your chain.
