my couisn got his 85 yz 250 running last night. his air filter was so old when he started was it it was tearing all over the place. we supposed to ride today and, there no place open that carries parts for a yamaha. if i give him one of air filters to costumize would it work? have any of you ever done that? as long as its a good seal it doesnt matter right? thanks.

You don't need the original yamaha air filter, you can buy aftermarket air filters that are cheaper and will fit the bike. Sorry if you meant there are no filters of any brand available that fit the bike. In that case disregard my comment
