Are PWK Air Striker carbs better?

Need a new carb for my '90 KDX and need input whether or not to buy an Air Striker model instead of the starndard PWK35.
Ordinarily I'd just spend the extra $10 bucks for the Air Striker, but their slides are not interchangeable with my old standard
model PWK35 and I'd kind of like to be able to keep the old slide (#5) for tuning if necessary. Are the Air Striker's noticeably
better in light throttle performance like they claim?

I’ve never used an Air Striker so can't be of much help there. I can tell you that there has been a couple versions of PWK carbs since yours was made in 1990 so chances are your slide wouldn't fit regardless of whether you order the standard or Air Striker version. Your slide is not interchangeable with the 95+ KDXs, which use a PWK as well, there have been changes to the shape of the jet block and therefore the slide. I'd call Carb Parts Warehouse and find out exactly what PWK models they have on hand.

Personally I'd spend the extra $10 on the AS.
