For the past few days, I haven't been able to get a hyperlink in a post to work. When I click on them, nothing happens. I can click on a category, or a post, and it works. But not a hyperlink. Also, using my browser, I find when I go to tools/internet options/ settings, and try to click on "view files" it won't take me to the files. But I can get there through my control panel.

I use Windows 98se, and IE 5.5.

Any ideas??

Somebody has to have an idea what's going on with this computer. It's driving me up a wall not being able to click on peoples picture pages!:(

well, hmm...
You mean the actual link just appears as regular non-clickable text?

If the link to the site you clicked on doesn't load a page it could be because the link is linked to a page whos host is down for the time being. If it happens to every page and you know those pages are wrking then I have no idea why it would do that. Or your server is down( but then no pages should load at all )

It's all links in posts. I know they're working because others are commenting on them. I've gone into internet settings and checked everything I can think of. But being a computer spode, it would have been easy for me to miss the one setting that needs to be turned on or off.

This may sound lame but...

...have you tried rebooting your computer? Your problems sounds like a simple one and rebooting should take care of it

Sounds like your file associations are all screwed up. Basically this lets the system know that a file with a certain extension, .exe, .txt , .htm (you get my drift) gets opened up by a certain program. I'm guessing that somewhere, .htm , or .html has been changed. You want them to point at iexplore.exe or netscape.exe or whatever browser your using.

Hope this helps you out,

Oh yeah a reboot would probably be a good idea...

That sounds plausable Hucker. Can you point a computer spode in the right direction as to where I might check this out?

I've tried the reboot, and even a shut down for a couple of minutes. No change.

Rich, neither of your links worked. My own link in my sig line won't even work!:(

Now this is very strange to me. I right clicked on your second link Rich, went to properties, and copied and pasted it. Of coarse that took me to your Super TTR page. But what's strange is that every link on that page worked for me. But none will work on DRN. Or any other off-road forums that I visit!:silly:

I found the problem! I was trying to think of what changes I've made over the last few days. The only thing I've done was load a program called "Pop-up Stopper". I disabled it, and all links work now.

It's to bad too. I hate pop-ups, but I guess it was seeing links on BB's as pop-up too. So, my question now is, does anyone know of a program that stops pop-ups that really works??:silly:

I hate pop ups, that stupid camera one always ticks me off bad. There's a thread in the flame board with links to some popup killing programs, I can't remember the one I used to have but it worked fairly well. You might try searching for that thread.
