Anyone who's shipped a bike via Forward Air before, what was involved?
My nearest location is in Seattle, so I'd like to take the bike out there on Saturday. Does it need to be crated? I'm assuming I can get a crate from the Kawasaki dealer, if need be.

Any other tips to make this a smooth process?

Thanks in advance..

You should call the Forward Air terminal that you plan on taking the bike to. Sometimes the requirements are slightly different.

You will have to crate the bike yourself. I had a bike shipped to me from New Hampshire. The guy bought a crate from a Suzuki dealer, crated my Bultaco, and drove two hours to Boston. The Boston terminal told him that the sides of the crate had to be wood, not cardboard. He had to drive back to NH, install wafer wood sides, and then take it back to Boston. A phone call would have saved him a lot of driving.

He was pissed at me.

So give them a call. Forward Air is by far the cheapest way to ship a bike. Maybe not the fastest or the easiest.

Crated? YES! Also no fuel or oil.
Click HERE for more info and it is a good idea to call as well.

I just got my new 02 yz and shiped out my sold cr over the last month with Forward Air It has to be in the crate and also here Fl. They will only take money orders only for payment you need the address to who its going to and also a phone # for them to call when the bike gets to were its going.
It cost me to have my bike shiped from ONT. $109.00 to ship my cr to MO. was $79.00 When I shiped my cr they took it off the truck took a few measurements and the weight of the crate then I went back inside to fill out the paper work. Then they gave me the total it would cost for shipping.
Then off to the 7/11 to get the money order then back and that was about it total time was about 40 min max.
Fordward Air is the best in shipping a bike for me easy & cheap ;)
It took 3 days for my bike to get from ONT to FL. and 2 days for it to go from FL. to MO.
Ron.
