Any of you get really bad blisters on your hands? I am using the Renthal firm compound with no waffle on them and they are killing my hands. I have tried waffles and they do even worse! What are some good grips to keep from getting them? Or should I try and get some smaller gloves? I wair a Medium, and if they rub that can cause them

MRK,
I would go with smaller gloves to reduce the friction, I'm sure that will solve your problem. Incidently, I have fox gloves and never had this problem, you might try these.
Hope this helps :D

Best I've used so far... Scott Fusion grips. Careful with tighter gloves, have caused my hands to cramp.

I have had the same problem with the Renthal grips!! This was the first time using them and my hands became so blistered that it slowed my pace in a hare scrambles to, the point of giving up a few postiions. I never had this problem with the Domino grips that came OEM on my KTM

Try grips with softer compound and cut away the waffles. Gloves that are comfortable are also important. I like Smith grips (softest compound, waffles cut) and Sinisalo gloves.

I presume you are mainly getting the blisters on the palm of your hands near the base of your fingers? If you don't find grips that solve the problem wrap two layers of Duck/Duct(?) tape around each hand. Use a scissors to snip the tape between your fingers or your hands can get cramped from the tape keeping your fingers from moving fully. I got the whole way through a hare scramble without blisters using this, whereas without it I get them after 15mins MX!

Try it, it does work...
Philip.

The grips I use are hard to find, but they are in my opinion the cushiest grips on the market. Oury road grips, huge gel blocks and they're larger diameter to keep down the arm pump, nicely priced at ~$10, very very highly recommended :)

I wear Fox Pawtectors and use Smith soft half-waffle grips (diamond on my palm and waffle for grip on my fingers). No blister problems.

Another solution - pick up a shovel and go to work

NIKKI, its time for DINNER!?!?!? haha. Yeah, I think I am going to try the domino grips. I have heard alot of good things about these grips, and one of my friends has them on his bike. I will also have to try on a pair of smaller gloves too!

Renthal full diamond. I prefer the medium for durability. I can't use any waffle grips. I either get blisters or a slight bit of arm pump from the thicker grip.

I just put on some renthals daul compound grips soft outer medium inner jury is still out haven't ridden with them but they should be more comfortable than stock. I was wondering why the throttle grip was slightly smaller in length just a tiny bit though. Doesn't matter should be holding the otter part of them anyways. I thought larger diameter grips induced arm pump must be a hand size thing. You could always try BMX grips they make some really soft comfy ones but they won't last.

I am currently dealing with a blister problem, I have been using renthal half diamond /half waffle medium , up to this point with very little problems....until now, my thumbs are torn up, the callusis on my hands are huge.... most of the problems started when it got warmer in New England, the hands begin to sweat etc,

I have found some relief in using strips of tape wrapped around my thumb, I have been using a bic razor to shave off the callusis, and baby powder on my hands to keep moisture down,
So far that has helped........

After years of just dealing with huge blisters after every ride I finally found a solution with your help. What fixed mine was the oversized grips in DK , putting on a small 1 inch square piece of ductape on my thumb and then using a good amound of triple gold bond on my hands. I did these 3 steps and bought a new pair of cheap 20$ ride gloves and now I will not be a frequent visitor to this forum section. Blisters ? what blisters ?
