Well its finally official. GSR and myself will be moving to the St. Louis area. ACC needs me before we can be moved out there so I will be flying out around Feb 24th to work for a couple of weeks and look for a temporary place to rent. Then fly back here around March 10th or so, bring some homework back with me, say goodbyes, pack/move/drive and report back to work in St. Louis approximately March 1st. I have a few awesome friends here in CA that I will hate to leave but I am looking forward to meeting some more of the Midwest crew. Hopefully all of our CA riding budies will make it to DW '02. If anyone can be of any help finding a place to rent within 30-45 minutes of downtown St. Louis drop me a note.

What's the temperature in Hell?

Good luck with the move. I would offer to help, but...um, I have plans that month.

Glad to hear you guys are coming East. I'm about 3 hours from St. Louis. Maybe we can hook up and do some riding.:) I used to know some people who live in Belview, Ill. (suburb of St. Louis) I'll see if anyone I know, knows of places to rent.

Well, the Pats did win the Super Bowl, so my guess would be it's pretty nippy down there right about now!;)

Hope the move goes smoothly.:)

Hey Eddie, The wife and I just got back from St. Louis visiting DHoward and seeing a Blues hockey game. Looks like a cool town, check with Dhoward on places to rent, I'm sure he could help out.

Welcome to Misery!

Uhm, I mean, Missouri! Finger Lakes is right in the middle of the state. About 125 miles from the East or West coast (of Missouri, that is). I'm sure we'll have another big group ride or two there again this summer.

You guys have a safe trip. If you need a place to stop over in KC, just give me a yell. There's a whole bunch of us here.:)

Don't worry about the cold weather too much. St. Louis doesn't get much of a spring and before too long it'll be 90° with 90% humidity. :p

Oh, and don't get off the freeway in East St. Louis after dark!

As Lou said, welcome to Missouri! We have a pretty active riding group and plenty of places to ride here in the Midwest. If either of you are interested in the Missouri racing scene check out chatrats.com. It is the official Missouri Hare Scrambles site with a link to the MX series also.

BTW, I've got a couple of buds in St. Louis that may know of some good apts.

The nice thing about this board is:

No matter where you go, you have family and friends to help you out. Sure, some of us are your weird, step-cousins who eat paste and talk to our imaginary friends too much, but we mean well.

Okie - Yeah GSR will be on her own for a couple of weeks. I am thinking about hiring a babysitter to take care of her though. She is pretty used to being pampered. Oh yeah we will definitely be up for Casey any time you're headed down there. I will be traveling a fair amount with my new job but even if I am gone I will leave GSR the truck so she can make the truck. Can't wait to ride and hang out with all of you more often.

BigLou - Thanks for the advance hospitality, we will definitely be looking to ride with anyone and everyone we can. I have really been wanting to get into a cross country or hare scramble, enduro series so as soon as we get settled I will definitely be checking out the options. Not being familiar with your riding areas and terrain - what do you folks think about a KTM 520? That is the bike I have been seriously looking at once I get a few bills paid off.

As far as enduros the BJEC covers Missouri and other states. It's a great series. Welcome. Maybe you can actually make it to a Heartland Spode ride and whack the Mamba.:p

Not sure about MO, but western KY is Thumper land in the trails. We have alot of steep hills in tight places where you need torque to pull a hill with no room to get a run. There are lots of 426's, 400's, and 520's out here.

Can't go wrong with a 520 i.m.o. KevinB4stroke races one in central Illinois. He has XR400's, 600's, and a BBR CR/XR400, and as far as I know, he LOVES the 520.

Aww, Jeff. You just have to remember to bring a stack of ones with you. Next time I'll show you the sights in ESL!;)

Eddie-There are several scramble series that run around this area. Keep in mind that KC is about 250 miles West of SL. As far as the 520 goes, Agent Orange (Al) rode Chris' on one of our local tracks and he had this face when he was done: :scream: . And Al owns a 380. From what I understand, the 520 is just smooth and has almost endless pull. MO-Power!

Some of the guys have already mentioned hitting St. Joe State Park once you guys get settled. As with anywhere, there are plenty of riding areas once you know where to look and get familiar with the local shops and riders. There is a pretty good internet base for riding areas in the MidWest as well.

Lou, TTR,

If/When you guys decide to go to St. Joe, let me know. I've been wanting to try it out for a while. I'll bring a few KY boys over to play. :)
