Here is the scoop. This guy at work wants to trade his 2005 yzf250 for my 1997 cr250r with $3000. My cr is in good shape. Not raced, new brakes, asv levers, grips, starts in the first few kicks, etc. I haven't looked at his but it sounds like its in good condition as well, with a brand new rear tire.

Now I will definitly look at his before I do the trade I'm just wondering if that sounds like a good deal?

I've looked online for comparisons but still would like some input from other people who might know more about bikes and prices than I do.

Anyways, I'm leaning towards yes. A newer bike, plus a four stroke for next summer to race, I think great!

The dollar is very close, but the market may be different. In any market a yzf250 isn't worth a 97 cr250 AND 3000. Mabe that bike and 1000.

In US dollars, there are plenty of 2005 YZ250F's for sale for $2,800-$3,500. So to give him $3,000 and your bike is not a good deal... it's pretty much like he would be getting your CR250 for free... or pretty close... not sure how the Canadian vs. US dollars works in there... but still.

Thanks for all the input. After thinking about yea, i do think I'm getting hosed. Even if my bike is older, it is a step down in power...and for $3000? I'll see what I can do about lowering that substantially.
