How to put 2 bikes in 1 truck

Hi,
I was wondering if someone could give me some advice on how to tie down 2 dirtbikes into the same pickup. It is a full size chevy pickup, my friend and i are going to an out of town track tomorrow and we don't wanna bring both trucks. Thanks for answering what is probably a simple question.

Well if it's a full size ( 8 foot bed ) then both bike's should just slide in there with the tail gate closed. Get 4 tie down's and hook one to each handle bar. Your going to have to X them under the fender of the other bike. Put both bike's in gear and your ready. Me and my friend do this everytime we ride and it work's without anyone's bike tipping over. But our truck isn't full size so we leave the tailgate down and it's fine.

Heck it's mot hard to get 3 bikes in a full size truck, 2 should be a no brainer! Just slide each one to the opposite side a little and tiedown as usual.

Awesome guys, thanks a lot. I knew this was going to be an easy question to answer, I didn't think it would work with 4 tie straps....didn't think they would just fit under each fender so nicely. Of course now I feel like an idiot! Thanks again.

When you pull the tie-downs tight, they will actually be snug on top of the front tire of the bike next to the one being tied down. Pick up some cambuckle tie-downs if you don't already have them. And give the bikes a good shake test before you hit the road. Plus, if possible, make sure to have them far enough apart so the bars don't hit.

I've put 3 big bikes in my old S-10 short bed, 2 bikes in a full-size truck is CAKE!

ive had a cr550 and 3 85s in one bed and the gear so it cant be that hard to tie down 2 bikes and it was a nissan dessert runner the same size as a s-10.

I haul three all the time and I can close the tailgate on my shortbed. They are a KX65, KX250, and either a PW80 or TTR125. More than that and I just hook up the trailer.

I've managed to fit two full size bike and a three wheeler in the bed of a full size short box.

'course, 'twas a KTM525, a TTR125, KTM50, PW50, and a Mini-Moto 4 on a hitch rack.

heres a funny little story...this dude i bought a bike from cracked me up. i showed up with my little ford ranger, (3 bike max) and this cat was like "how ya gonna get it in that" i kind of giggled and pulled out my trusty 2X12 and just loaded up as usual ya know, push it up grab the rear tire roll it to the front. i then tossed a couple of straps on her and done. he was astonished at this, and then asked if it stay that way.
just thought i would share it, i guess it reminds me not everybody has loaded a bike by themselves.
p.s. i retired the 2X12 after several years of trusty service last year after it broke unloading a cb650, i now have a state of the art metal one with a lip and everything.

Full size does not necessarily mean 8 ft bed. if you have a 6ft bed. you can do the x method described, then swing the swing arm to the middle of the bed on both bikes till they touch. The gate will close, unless you have paddels. I invested in a westin bed xtender which lets you use your tail gate with the protection of a cage.

NO, DO NOT RIDE IT UP!!!! Stand on the right side of the bike, push it up until the front tire passes the gap between the tailgate and the bed and grab the front brake. The gap will help keep it from rolling back. Reach back and grab the rearmost part of the rear tire. Release the brake and roll the rear tire up. Support the bike while you climb up into the truck. This sounds harder than it is. I am 5'8" and have a Dodge Ram that I regularly load myself. As long as the bike stays relatively vertical, balancing it is pretty easy.
Bringing it back down is similar, walk it back until the front hits that gap, hop to the ground (without letting go of the bike or brake). And pump the brake while you roll it off. It works best if your ramp has good traction.

Ahh, I see, your second ramp would make it much easier (and safer) to ride up. But I'll bet that you didn't ride the middle one up. :laugh:
