When the 81 Honda cr250 first came out, it spit trannies like nothing. A little undercut on the dogs, good to go. I ran Honda Cr 125's from 75 till 77. Never remember my yz friends spitting gears. Even back in the day, oem discovers errors, some reimbursed, some just switched part numbers. Shifting without the clutch was always known to wear quicker. Backing off the throttle on a big bike and shifting is one thing, but it leaves a smaller bore still in a really high rpm range. Bye bye gears.

I remember having issues with 81 yz125's (aircooled) and 82 yz125's (liquid with the rad behind the front numberplate). Or was that 82 and 83? I had some friends who had trouble with slightly earlier ones as well. Mostly due to rough down shifting with no clutch , I think.

I'll stick with my euro bikes unless my buddy sells me the 370. Speaking of the early w/c bikes - I ran a 82 CR125 and you HAD to run distilled water or the magnesium cooling parts turned into swiss cheese. I repaired a few with belzona (similar to JBweld but better).

I had some shots that appeared too dark. I fiddled with ifran view and, well lets see: The first one is just some of the parts laying around, that is a noguchi cylinder, new, and the dg radial head. The second is my buddy Eddie Z's restoration project, he goes way over board! The third is back at the barn, and more parts.

Any Husky's or CZ's he wants to rid himself of??

I was talking to my vintage riding buddy(finished 11th overall in '71 Transam series who rode for the US CZ importer) about shifting... he mentioned he shifts wide open without the clutch still today @ 54! I tried doing that this year on my 77 Husky 250... it lasted all season until the last day of the last race! 2nd went out... I still wound up with 1st place for the whole season though.

Ha, I probably seen him, if he was at Redbud! Shifting old Huskies, compared to jap bikes? The barn of bikes guy does have a few, post #41 has 2 in the right back ground, both 125's. He has a few more, I would have to double check. I know 1 is the auto 360! Congratulations on the overall.

Lesson learned, make sure the flash works! The first pic is my "new" ride! Timing being everything, I will have to wait till after the holidays. The second is one of the better pics showing how many bikes this guy has accumalated! He has about 5 areas like this! My optional bag of 125's is in that mess. And one of the Huskies scattered around.

Just a few more. With the bikes nice and tight, wonder if an 80 pops out now and then? And one sweet old enduro!

I did mention it was a barn of bikes? Anyone remember the 23 inch front wheel?

Sorry about the crappy pics,,,, I know I can get better! Everything is for sale. The ones he likes may take more money? He is a very nice guy. He does race a lot of vintage races, and does have a couple mile vintage track. May be some good times to be had in this coming year, out at the bike barn! Anyone sees something interesting, I can arrange something when I go back, or I can hit him up via email. Step away from the rm400's, just look away!

She got her wish. Time for mine, lol.

A little vintage iron would make the garage a little more cozy.

My back, and my poor beat and broke up son, are sure liking the vintage racing idea. No triples to splatter into!!!!!!!!! All about corner speed! Maintenance should be a lot cheaper and not as extensive, basic stuff. Yep, the mother and her daughter thing, been there and still doing that!

Yeah, I would like to find a few 125's and 430's... I notice a red tank Husky which(if correct) is a Cr 250/430...
How can I talk with him...?
Thanks!
PS... If you look on the AHRMA website you will see John DeSoto on my '81 490 Maico in '07
