Great Forum here, I have been looking at a 03 KDX 220 at the local shop, they're asking $4,399. When i asked the dealer if that was negotiable he said "why? i wont have any problem getting that price".
I thought i read where some of you guys are getting them for $4,000 or less.
BTW, i live in N.W New Mexico, 4 corners area.

Thanks!
Dave...

That doesn't sound too good to me.  Isn't that the MSRP ?  No nothing as far as any discount or anything?

This may not be applicable now since I purchased my KDX a couple of years ago.  Mine is a 200 and MSRP at the time was $4200.  My dealer worked out a discount down to $3700 and then i added EE hand guards, an O-ring chain, FMF Pipe and silencer and was out the door with all that for under $4000.

Like I said, it was a few years ago, but I guess it just depends on who you're dealing with.  Many people on this board, like Neely and JP have driven a few hours to do biz with this dealer who is not located in our state.  I've since purchased another KDX from him.

good luck, but I would shop around some.

I just bought a used 2001 KDX220 for $2100. I walked into 2 local dealers with $4000 cash and they would not take it. The lowest was $4500 out the door! I just could not justify the extra expense of new. The dealer that wanted $4500 started at $5900!!!! I didn't even ask how they come up with that figure, I just said "$5900, so you plan on keeping it huh?" They really did the same BS as a new car dealer. Talking to the "manager" and stuff. If you have ever seen the movie "fargo" you would know what I am talking about.

Hi,
I bought my 2003 kdx 220 in dec 2002 for $4100 out the door, I have heard of prices as low as $3900. Most dealers charge the msrp and then an aditional charge for freight, and other BS. When I was looking, the jerks at Freedom Kawasaki in grandview, Mo Had a left over 2001 still on the showroom floor, and were willing to sell me that one for the very special price of.. $4050, I told them to stuff it and enjoy paying tax on it for another year.

I think factory invoice price on the 220's was right arroung $3700-3800. So it is possible to get it cheap, but keep in mind that the dealership is not a charity and has to make money some how. I would try calling dealerships within driving distance, I had to drive an hour east to get mine but I saved $300 off the bike and another $300 for the freight and handleing BS fees the local dealers would have charged.

Basically, they guys sound like jerks, and I would look somewere else

wow, that's cheap! it's been a while since I priced a KDX. Makes a pretty attractive package compared to the latest and greatest 4 stroke at over $1500 extra! :yeehaw:

I was at a Kawi dealer about two weeks ago and he had a 2003 KDX200 for $3999.00. I asked if he would take $3600.00 and he said yes if it's cash! I asked because I have a friend that's thinking about buying one.

Last year I paid $3850.00 for my KDX200. Not a great deal, but I couldn't find another one within 120 miles

You should always get 25% off accessories at any dealership that you bought the bike from.

I would tell your dealer to stick it in his expansion chamber.

I bought an '03 200 in March for $3700. That included FMF Gnarly pipe, Acerbis Pro Rally Handguards and Mototassinari Vforce DII reed cage and reeds. Did not include tax. He said the list was $3999, he had a rebate for $300 and he discounted it an additional $300. Besides the extra parts, he charged $30 for paperwork. Oh, and I also got zero interest, zero down payment, no payment for 6 months on my Kawasaki Good Times Card! :aj:

I paid $3,900 OTD for an 03 200 in SO. CA. That was $100.00 below sticker.
I thought that was a fair price, but not as good as you guys back east!

KDX's in California are more expensive but worth it. Like the commercial says on the T.V.: A California KAW is a happy KAW.
Don't worry too much about a few hundred dollars. While you are out saving a few bucks, the rest of us are riding during some of the best conditions ever. Make the best deal you can right now and go riding this weekend. You won't regret it. Make the dealer throw in a loading ramp, helmet, boots, fuel jug, or what ever you think you may need. Wait until your just about ready to sign. He won't let you walk out the door for an accessory. It works every time for me.

Ok, my next question is why is there a 200 and a 220? why would a company build two like machines with only 20cc difference?
