Finished up with the front mount...

Pipe is sitting all the way in the head and looks like a small dent in the pipe to clear the downtube..... Hmmmm, just thinking that I don't have the exhaust gasket in there yet and that should give me some more clearance? Bottom line with the motor rotated further forward there is no need for a headpipe extension.

Great info, I know of a 220 motor for sale, I may buy it and keep an eye out for a kx.

Which year kx is best suited? Can the KDX tank fit in the KX frame?

The front stay is still on. What in the heck, stays front and back? I would like to see the look on your face when you ride this bike. Nice job. Vintage Bob

Ya, the 220 motors at least had front and rear head stays and the rear needed to be removed for tank clearance.

Picked up my suspension from Dick's Racing yesterday....

I have both a 03 kx125 and a 98 kdx200 and had the chance to do this type of conversion as I got the kx for $450 but decided to rebuild the engine now I'm kinda stuck with 2 very nice bikes but I don't care for the the oower on the kx, anyhow great job so far!!
