KTM 520 2002 clutch.

First of all hi from Greece.
I would like your opinions on a problem i face with my 2002 520 EXC.
After riding hard for 5 hours the clutch started rattling a lot.
I checked it again on the next ride, after the bike got hot the clutch started the same noise again.
The bike was really well cracked in and it has only 1000 Km!!!
What sould i check first?
Has anyone else had the same problem?I know that the clutch is really noisy from the start but this is something!!I had changed the oil and checked the valves but there was no problem.
Please give me some tips because I 'am loosing it!!:ugg:

Sorry, The only Issue I have had is finding Nuetral. Hopefully someone will pipe in with some advice.

The KTM 4 strokes are a tad noisy.Did you by chance just put a skid plate on it? Because that will amplify the noise considerably. How does your clutch perform?Is itworking ok?

I did have a buddy who oveheated his clutch and one steel and one friction plate warped. He replace them and didn't have any problem afterward. He had the same symptoms. Might try to work it under warranty like he did.

Hello Greek Kattom

Just a quick unrelated 520EXC question:

We came to Crete in Sept 2001 and saw a 520 EXC in Ag. Nic. with a 'factory fit' ignition barrel attached to the handlebar clamp bolt. Its what I need. Do all 520's come with the ignition barrel or is it something the owner has done ?

Love your country-loads of off road, everyone appreciates bikes and I've never met a miserable Greek !!!

Ktm 520 2002 clutch

I do have a skid plate on it but i have mounted from the inside some stiky rubber just for this matter!
The clutch from the box seemed to be fading a bit after hard use on tarmac!!!
I did some wheelies and after a while it seemed to have faded a lot!!! After some time it regained the original drag.
I am going to open the clutch busket on Tuesday in order to see what is the sise of the problem and what could be the solution!!As for warranty here in Greece all SXs and EXCs have a 30 day warranty!!!!!

If anyone is going to come to Greece he is welcomed to Syros.You are going to love our small but really warm Island.
As for the ignition barrel (DRZ nick) i think that it is something that all EXCs have.I hope you liked Greece and you are welcomed the next time to Syros!!
