This may be old or obvious to a lot of people but I ask this question: Is the the commentary on the ESPN tapings live or a voiceover done later. I always assumed it was all done live and then everything edited to fit TV and then broadcast later. However, while at Mt Morris this past weekend, I noticed David Bailey driving around on his ATV during the race. Obviously he could not be commentating on the race "from the broadcast booth."

It's always a voice-over.

The only exception is Speed Channel's coverage of the Daytona SX. It's live sometimes.

Actually, it's voice over on outdoor MX, but all of the SX coverage now incorporates live commentary.  A few years ago, the SX was done by Art and Bailey after the edit, but then they switched to live comentary on tape during the SX events.  Bailey wrote an article about it in his Racer X column about the time that Art was forced to "retire".
