I've ridden Powers....it's a small arena cross style track. If you're going that way....IMO....Big Air is a better choice. Less congested, bigger track, more friendly obsticals.

Portland is just West of Lansing, about 20 minutes East of Ionia. Great facility. I believe that you have to become a club member in order to do any open practice days.

Battle Creek is closer to you. Similar in terrain/obsticals (and membership) as Portland. Might be a cool option to join one of these clubs. Great guys, similar interests, etc.

Have you looked into M40, near Marcellus, MI??? I heard that they had some open practice there too. They have an oval dirt track for car racing and a MX track on the NE corner of the property. It's small, and I don't believe that they charge much. If you google it, you should be able to find a contact. I haven't been down there in quite some time, so I'm uncertain of the track layout now.

Big Air is pretty good, they keep the track well groomed and watered on practice days. We are there pretty much every Wed.
PTR is a good one as well.
I have yet to be impressed with Martin and Log Road eats tires.

Yeah, there's been lots of drama with the ownership down there. Divorce, bancruptcy, trespassing..... :blah:

Too bad really. They held a couple of harescrambles there. The track was pretty fun, but I guess that they ran some of it onto state land....and the fish police do not like that.

A track with safe jumps? Knowing when to say no and chop the throttle is difficult

Yep.

At FastTraxx in Nelsonville, Ohio, I can jump everything except the triple. It's face is similar to an SX triple and the jump has got to be 60+ feet. I hate this, but I haven't even tried to double it. I could (the double part is actually a little smaller than the biggest double on the track which I do jump), but if I overjump the double, I'll case the triple and I don't want to risk re-injury to the wrist.

I would probably try doubling it if I had a buddy to pace my speed off of. Maybe this year.

You could pace off the same distance on flat ground, no biggy. A 6~8' foot take off and spaced landing, you are cheap, or trying to kill someone because you are cheap?
