Ok, so I just won an auction for a magura hydro clutch for my 98 Yz 250, I have some concerns though, and the seller isn't helping, if I dump the bike and hte lever breaks what do I do, how do I find a replacement, what do you guys think of these juice assisted clutches, thanks for any advice,
P.S. I have a universal ASV billet folding clutch lever and perch for sale now, both have 5 year guarantee's against breakage. 50.00

It came stock on my KTM. Knock on wood!!! I've only broken one and I just went to the KTM dealer and got a new one. I would guess that yours would be no different.

thanks jeff, also is the hose braided or just plastic like the rear brake. have you had any problems with wear? Thanks so much for your help. Basically, am I going to be impressed or is it just a nice thing to have that people can admire?

I think you'll like it. They never fade and have a consistent feel all day. Get a braided SS hose for it. The plastic will rub through eventually. You can get parts from Dennis Kirk for sure but KTM levers should work, too.

You can buy replacement levers fairly easily, although they are pricier than the standard fare. I run bark busters on my WR that keep the hydraulic unit nicely protected (along with my hands).

Yz250, Let us know how the installation works out, especially the slave unit.
I have been considering a juice unit for my 125 for a while but have not been able to acquire any pictures of the installation for an YZ 125 / 250. The problem I see is the pipe and clearance to mount the slave unit. Yea, these things work great on KTM's and 250F's but they are all left side, vertical inclination clutch units, like I said I have yet to see an installation for a right side actuator with a 2 stroke chamber in the way. I've asked Magura as well as E-rider and all I get is "I'm sure it'll work" Good luck, and please let us see the results! :thumb:

I'll take pics along the way, but I'm not sure it will help in your case whyzee, since the clutch actuator is on the right side on my bike, but I will take pics nonetheless, hope to receive it soon and get to it, thanks
Jeff

sorry make that left side, I was thinking of it the wrong way, my clutch actuator is on the left side (clutch lever side)

The hardest part of the install is finding a good place to mount the slave cylinder. On my 92 (similar clutch arm design to the 98), I mounted the slave unit to the frame tube under the tank with zip types and ran the cable to the clutch arm. I do still experience some slippage due to the length of cable stretching between the slave cylinder and the actuator arm.

I second that about Magura. I broke the slave rod(size of a bicycle spoke) and they shipped me a new one for free!

If you have to disassemble the cable you have to bleed it real good or else you will expirence some fade. Use only mineral oil also!

YOU CAN GET A EZ PULL LEVER FROM ENDURO ENG. FOR LESS THAN FROM MAGURA. IF YOU GO ON LINE WITH MAGURA THEY HAVE INSTALLITION FOR YOUR BIKE. I DONT KNOW IF THEY MAKE A SLAVE CYLINDER GUARD FOR YOUR BIKE THEY MAKE THEM FOR KTMS.
