I'm surprised that this thread has not been started yet.

Anyway, a bunc of DRNers turned out to race at Mill Creek in Pell City Alabama yesterday.  My daughter Lindsay and I went out there to spectate.  what we found was that the parking lot was a muddy mess, but the sun was out and by the time Lemming took the track in something like the 12 moto, the conditions were perfect.

Before the racing started, we walked around the parking lot visiting with people that we recognized.  Parked all together was Lemming, Wrench, Julius Pleaser, and Nikki.  I didnt' get the meet Steve Tally if he was there.

Shortly before the racing started, we walked into the infield to find a good spot to spectate.  I'd say that where we ended up was the best.  We had the start straight on one side of us, and the long ski-jump on the other.

The racing was varied and fun to watch.  The unlimited/Pro guys were flying off the ski-jump really far!  It was cool.  A few almost ate it really bad.

Lemming got about a 3rd place start in his first Moto.  By mid-way through the first lap, he had passed his way into 1st!  Then Bobby yells: "Tim went down!"  Sure enough, I turn around and there's Tim lying on the ground with his Gas Gas pointed in the wrong direction.

I didn't see it, what happened?

Tim got up, in last, and caught the tail end and started to pass people.

I saw Nikki in the 25+ moto?  I think that's what class she was in.  Looked good.  I'm not sure if I ever saw JP, and wrench.

We had to leave after the first round of motos so I could get Lindsay home for her nap.  She had a great time!  Between each race, she would say: "I want to see more motorcycles"  Cool!

So, what happened after we left?

I don't know where to start.

Timr, I'm a little disappointed that you didn't hang around long enough to see me beat Wrench like a drum. I beat him by a huge margin in the first moto, and then beat him again in a thrilling come-from-behind charge in the second moto. I got tangled up with a crasher on lap two, and had to work my a** off to get back up to 3rd. Good times!

Lemming's race was pretty entertaining as well. He was second going into turn one, and had the lead when he popped up over the hill. Unfortunately, he got cross-rutted on a high speed section and went down. By the time he remounted, the field was long gone. He was at least half a lap down, and we thought he was finished. A lap later, he had passed two guys, and was looking like he would salvage a top 5. It wasn't to be, as his race came to a premature end when his bike seized on the face of a step-up. We all felt like we had been robbed.

Nikki really impressed me. It was her first race at Mill Creek, and her first race on the new 250F as well. She pulled off a 5th OA in the highly competitive 16-24 class, and managed a 6th OA in the 125D class. 125D is full of Mill Creek experts and is an extremely tough class. Nik got the holeshot in both 125D motos, and lep a couple of laps before the regulars worked their way up. If she could spend a little time there, she would rule.

She's so cool that they renamed the city after her.

Well... I posted this in the other Mill Creek thread before I saw Timr's post:

":thumb:

What an awesome weekend! Saturday we went down to Monster Mountain. After a few days of rain, the tracks were pretty dang muddy... Lemming and I were the only two crazy enough to go out and get dirty. Not only that... it was COLD and WINDY! Go figure Lemming came away with a broken chain and I escaped with a broken brake lever, handguard, and grip. JP, Wrench, and RMairtime all came ready to ride but made the wise choice to wait until Sunday. JP did rip up the place on his XR50 though! We did get to hear cool stories about Bubba tearing up MM a few weeks back so that was pretty cool.

The weather was perfect on Sunday (sunny and 60's) and the whole crew spent the day at Mill Creek. JP, Lemming, RMairtime, Wrench, and I had fun racing and Steve Talley and Timr came out to provide moral support. Track was muddy in practice but a lot of fun during the races. I even came home with a trophy with SANTA on it... how cool is that?

It was a blast meeting everyone!! I will post up some photos from the weekend tonight. I have a sweet video, too... but nowhere to host it. Anyone got room for a 1.3 MB video for a few days?

BIG THANKS to JP for being a gracious host!! :worship: "

----------------------------------------

Timr - it was nice seeing you again (and your family - your little girl is such a cutie!) Hey - I won't be in +25 until '04... I was racing 16-24... +25 was the second gate drop. I couldn't come all that way and just race one class!

JP - heck... you impressed ME when you took the F for a spin. Nice wheelie down the hill going to the finish and dang... slow down in the corners, will ya! ;) You did scare me a little with that throttle chop on the step-up though. I wish I coulda watched more of your race... dangit!

Steve - Thanks for helping me at the line and gettin some pictures - it was nice meeting you! Hope you're feeling better next time so we can ride together!

Lemming - man what bad luck you had this weekend... I hope it wasn't my fault! It was cool watching you fly into the lead before in the back section though and then catching back up after crashing. Next time I'll stay away from you if I come down! Send me your email addy at kidnik31@aol.com and I'll send two photos to you later tonight. Thanks for taking that video of me, too - I have watched it at least 30 times! Gomer is gonna put it up later for me (thanks - Goober!)

RMairtime - nice meeting you, too. I enjoyed watching your motos - you looked good on that big orange beast! Also send me your email addy at kidnik31@aol.com so I can send you a picture on the 6-pack.

Wrench - thanks for helping me out over the weekend (like with my mystery motor bolt holes and the true meaning of WD-40) :) Nice seeing you again... wish I coulda watched your race.

Thanks for a fun weekend Nikki. It was great to meet you. You rock on a dirt bike. I think all the other guys would agree with me on this one.......I've never seen a bike look so good. :)
It was great seeing everyone else, Lemming.......time for you to move up a class or two....your way to fast for D-class....hhmmmm......or maybe I'm still to slow for C-class :P.

Anyway, I had a great weekend and hope we can all get together soon and do it again.

Lemming was riding in the D class?!?!?

I guess we should cut him some slack since he's older than the dirt he was riding on. :o

Sorry...sorry!  I had to take Lindsay home for her nap.  If she falls asleep in the car, then she won't go down for her nap.  I had to poke and tickle her all the way home to keep her from going to sleep.   She finally looked at me and said, "I'm going to sleep in my car seat Daddy!"

We wanted to stay.  She wanted to stay.

Sorry, I didn't know that you were such a youngster!  Lindsay says hi (quietly) to everyone.  She's kinda shy.  She has to get used to a person before she starts talking a lot around them.  I can't wait to get her a bike.  She always wants to be where ever Daddy is.  Hopefully, you'll see her at DW in a few years.  Did I mention that we have #2 on the way.  Yep, we're due May 14th, 2003.  Could be a boy or another girl, Sue has her ultrasound tomorrow, but we're going to wait until the actual birth to find out.

I'll have to go to Cooperland just so I can get some sleep.  Oh wait, that won't work, I tend to hang out at the camp fire until the sun comes up.  :scream:

Yeah, it sucks that Monster Mountain was so gooey. I still enjoyed watching you and Lemming flail around in the mud.

Look at that nice new 250F. Good thing you got a pic of it. ;)

Looks like everyone is getting a little sideways on the table coming out of the turn. Better be careful! Looks like a fun track! Does everyone get together up there often? I'd sure like to run a race or two before training starts back up again!

We ride at Mill Creek nearly every week. The pics are from the last race of the season, and the new schedule isn't out yet. I think the next race will be in late February, but don't quote me on that. If you feel like hitting some practice days, send me a PM and we'll hook up. It's a really great track, and their SX track is cool too.

Phillip - works okay for me? Maybe try to right click on the link and do a "save target as" and save it on your desktop. Then try to open it from there. It's like a 1.3 MB download.

Thanks Nikki! That worked. Cool Video :thumb: I'm buying a video compression card to download small clips from my Hi8 to my computer. We'll see how it works. Stay safe :)

I figured I'd ask...

Did anyone do a "save target as" on the video clip linked above back when I posted it and still have it hanging around on your pc? If so - if you could email the video to kidnik31@aol.com that would be awesome!!

My hard drive died a month ago and I didn't have a single thing backed up :(

Lost all my photos, songs, video clips, etc... not fun!
