Need help picking out a bike!

Hi, i currently ride a ttr 230, i like the low end of the 230, but it just doesnt have enough power, i want somthing with more top end but goes on the trails like the 230, and will chug like it aswell.


the 230 has pretty big weight numbers, but it doesnt feel that heavy to me.

i just want somthing that will do good in tight trails and rip on the open stuff

for your budget i would just stick with what you have and modify it. if you had a bigger budget i would suggest a wr250f they have awesome low end torq and are pretty fast as well

yeah, I think ill do that,

what are some good modifications to the bike?

my problem is the bike is to slow, it give up after like 40mph, and I would like to have more top end.

For the money you can find a nice XR 400 one of the best trail bikes ever bilt Lots of after market mods you can do also

Bonehead is right. i completely forgot about the xr 400. they are bullet proof machines thats are very easy to find and is twice the machine you have now

i like the 230(2006) alot because it feels like a newer bike, my friend has a 1999 225 ttr and it feels alot different even though the power is close, the seat is big, and everything feels different, how are the xr's? thanks
