I seized my connecting rod to the crank pin and dusted the motor on my 91 KDX250. I see on the side if the water pump it says KX250. since some of the parts I am going to need are a bit tough to find, I guess the real question is just what parts are interchangeable between the two. Also who has the best selection of parts for the 250?

The motor is basically an '88 KX250 with milder porting, a lighting system, heavy flywheel, different jetting, pipe, gearbox ratios, and probably a few other things. I think virtually all gaskets and seals from an '88 or '89 KX250 should work. Not sure about the crankshaft, as the end of the crank might be different to accomodate the lighting and different flywheel.

The '88 head gasket is thinner than the KDX gasket and will give you more compression but still let you run on pump premium.
