You may get lucky and get all the pieces, if you get unlucky I sure hope the bike doesn't lock up on the face of a jump.

Exactly. I have had this happen on two bikes and blown them out with air compressor and then flushed with diesel fuel repeatedly. So far so good with both of those engines, but you can never be 100% sure without splitting the cases. Neither of those bikes were mine. If it were mine, I would likely have split the cases and replaced the bearings/seals.
