I'm trying to replace the steering stem bearing on my 89 NX125. I got the bearings out and the old races of the steering stem, but I can't get the outer races out of the frame. There is a small lip on there, but I can't find anything to get a grip on it with. I even tried a chisel from the other side, but I can't get enough angle and the chisel slips off. Is there some special tool I need to remove these races?
special tool need no but can buy them look for Park Tool Steering Race Remover but with the rigth size socket it dose wonders as long the top races was per-removed or bearing puller and small pipe and you may want check out this page http://www.dansmc.com/steering_bearings.htm
managed to get the lower race off, but the upper one is still stuck. looks like the adjuster nut was loose and the bearings weren't riding on the races. I can see the groove the bearings worn on the frame. plus it looks like the groove is making it even more difficult to remove the race. Where can I get the steering race remover you mentioned?
