What about Rausch Creek? I hear that they have access to some decent trails too.

Rausch Creek has some trails, but not a lot and it gets old quick. if you like motocross and want to spend time on both its great, but i prefer trails that will keep me busy for a full day or more.

I think that may have been a while ago because now you have to be with a member and cant come more then like 2 times a year without having a membership

The reason for this is because many people would come break rules and TC could only make them leave so it was no loss to them only to tower city

IRT TC, Not really. they let you come and ride as a guest 2 times a year to "check it out" They are very strict. There are big "choke points" that you have to ride in and out of, the area is not well marked (not marked at all) and if "they" staff or members catch you lost or riding out side of the area or to fast, they will toss you out like last weeks fish member or no. Its a fun area but you really have to ride for about 30 mins to get to good stuff. Oh and want a "camp site?" forget it. You have to "buy" one from an exiting member or "make" your owen. Even finding a place to park my van to camp is a PITA. But hey, it is legal and if your cool people will get to know you if your up there alot, go to member meetings, and vol for duty. Kind of like PAP in a way I suppose. There is also Tons of riding off the reservation but the best bet is to get a plate on your bike so NO ONE can give you poop for hitting the roads.
The loss of PAP would be hudge, but something tells me even thoug it may "relocate" it will not go away. I may force some of us back underground from where we came, but consider this, the section of Rt 81 that the PAP valley is in is marked as a fog area. I can not see how they could possibly put and certify an FAA ariport there! It is however a very hot spot for a cargo terminal and in the end, the industrial value of the land will make it worth developing. The state of Pa would love nothing more as they do not want to "fix" the coal mine mess and the "lease" rates the Coal co's pay is a fraction of the revenues the state would get from industry that would have to pay to fix and develope the mess.

TC Good Alternative

I wasn't a member or there or with as a guest. They only seemed interested in my 35.00. My reason for going at that time was I was riding alone and they don't require anyone with you. I guess they figure it must be their way of natural selection. Anyway Jason your right the good stuff is far away and also hard to find. There was a really cool trail marked 6 and was a very long single track loop but it has been broken up by development. My advice is if you go there bring a GPS and mark out your own stuff as their trail markings and maps sort of suck. Oh yeah as the place is mostly coal it's pretty harsh on your fork seals and lungs. Despite all this I have had some very good times there. The topography is various and there are certanly very good hill climbs, single track and frie trails that will challenge anyone. Don't get me wrong I preferred Paragon but TC is a good alternative and should support them so they don't disappear as well.

Thanks to all who attended the benefit ride today, they had a great turnout, much more than expected for such short notice. It was a little cold, but I did get a little riding in on one of the parks, (can i say this) atvs. there was too much snow for me to try it on the bike. There were plenty of reporters there, newspaper, magazine and television. at the end of the day, lots of Paragons items were packed into trailers and hauled away for storage. they have been ordered off the property by Monday, but as Kyle has been saying all along, he wont give up and will fight as long as he can.
They would prefer to stay where they are, but have been looking at other property as a last resort. Regardless of what happens, Paragon is not gone, they will be back and better than ever.

How about a Dirtrider campsite as a group? Is that possible?
Thats a good idea. I wonder if they would go for it and what they would charge each person? I use to ride with some Thumper Talk guys that were TC members in good standing, maybe Ill log in there and see if they are still around.

Hey Lou, missed all you guys.
Let's see, after Dirtweek and getting my Bike back from TreeJumper ( thanks for taking care of it again ). I recovered from my minor back injury, only to reinjure my big toe on my right foot. Went for surgery last year in January and haven't been to work since. First Surgery they replaced a joint, it had complications, 2 surgery's later I am now able to walk with a cane.
I have spent last year playing Xbox GoW and Forza MotorSport. I hadn't the heart to do anything especially with you guys since I was immobilized.
Now I come on and find that Paragon is out the window even if I could ride again. Uggh !
I will be hanging around on the forums now I have a laptop by me.
Back soon.

Hey bud good to hear from ya!!

They want $30M for the land. They want to build a cargo airport for $1.6B. The fight is on and it's not over yet. Paragon will locate somewhere else if they have to.

Hey bud.
I just can't see Paragon getting another property of similar size with the topographical features that the current location has for that rent price.
Everyone who has large parcels of Land in Pa is looking for development opportunities to maximize their earning potential or pay off.
How much land does a commercial airport need ?

I don't think Scooter has the time to remark trails, that's the best part for us novice riders, yeah this way it's easy.....

I can't believe that write-up of the case appeared in a newspaper. It read like the reporters rough notes.

Anyway, I hope that the appeal process takes us through next fall. If we are lucky, Kyle will find even better land before that happens. One thing is for sure, that place is going to be over-run by riders - like roaches in a White Castle - if Kyle isn't there to police it. There are just so many access points.

It will take years (as much as a decade) before an airport is constructed. That assumes that the locals don't fight it.

In my humble opinion Tower City has far more and better trails than Paragon if you like challenging single track. I've been riding Tower City for the better part of 10 years, and the single track there is hard to beat. I can understand how it may be difficult to find the good stuff for someone new to TC and unaccompanied by a rider who is familiar with the area, but if you know where to look you'll find some amazing trail and a lot of it. The thing that really separates Tower City from Paragon in my opinion is the varying trail elevation. Most of the trail at Paragon is relatively level. Tower City has a lot of trail with significant elevation changes that makes for great technical riding. I'm not talking about monster hill climbs, but some steep technical hills that are challenging. Also, Tower City will let you cut trail if you want, and you can run the trail both directions. I know some of you are going to say it's dangerous to run trail in both directions, but Tower City has so much trail, I rarely run across other riders. Not to mention that much of the good single track is too narrow for quads, so you don't have to worry about plowing in to one of them. Both places are rocky, so you just have to get use to that. But Tower City has far, far more single track that is challenging on many levels. Tower City marks only the major trails that are safe for most riders and result in a loop that will eventually get you back to home base. Tower City will let you mark the trails you cut with ribbon, but it's easy to ride past some of those markings. The downside to Paragon is that you can only ride marked trail and there just isn't as much trail compared to Tower City. While at Paragon I drool when I see some of the single track potential, but I get frustrated because they won't let you cut new trail.

If any of you would be interested in a tour of some good single track at Tower City this summer, shoot me an email. You have to like tight technical single track, otherwise you'll be hating life by the end of the day
