Having trouble finding a piston and for my 1983 kdx 200. This bike is in really good shape and surprises me everytime I ride it. Would like to freshen up the engine in the near future and would like any information on where I could locate a piston for her. I can find a complete engine gasket kit and wrist pin bearing but no piston. If any one else has one of these bikes please share any tech. tips you may have. Thanks

Where have you looked? I hade my 1984 totally rebuilt from the crank up in 2001, and could get a piston then. The old one is now a pencil holder. I think at the time I used a stock part. I don't think (but don't know for sure) that the pistons are different. I am currently rebuilding the suspension, and changing the front end to an '86 to get the disk brake. Please let me know if I can be of any help.

I have had many tell me there should not be a problem finding a piston for a 1983 kdx 200 but for some reason I have not found one. I have looked long and hard (on the internet) at any web site that carries dirt bike parts, ie.. denniskirk.com, throttlehead.com and no one offers a piston for my bike. I can find them for the 83 250 but not 200. When I get ready to do it I guess I will pull the piston and put the micrometer to it and call wiesco and order. Just curious why no dealers on the internet have one and if anyone has ordered one I would like to know from where. Thanks for the response.

FWIW, I've found many companies do not list their complete product line on their websites. If their is a company you think should have a piston for your bike, I would phone them directly instead of relying on their website.

I had the same idea. Here is how I have been ordering parts for my antique. I look up the part number on www.buykawasaki.com, then call a parts wholesaler named Tracy's World of Cycles. They order the part for me and then I call back in 24 hours to see if the part is discontinued or back-ordered. I have only found one part that is discontinued so far. If you want their number, just email me at hartz@frognet.net.

Another thing you might try is after you look up the part #'s go to www.ronayers.com and plug 'em into their part # search function

They sell Kawi parts at discounted prices
