Poll: What did you ride first - bike or quad?

Just curious - what did you ride first... a bike or a quad? Seems like a lot of my MX friends started out on 4 wheels.

Me - QUAD!

I rode my first quad solo back in 5th grade and got hooked on riding. My mom was dating a guy with a quad and he used to let me ride it all over the farm and woods - it was great! They broke up though :( and for years I begged my mom for a quad. Finally - 8 years later - I bought myself my first bike - a YZ 80. Now that I have experienced the thrill of 2 wheels in the dirt (and air), I will never go back to 4 wheels! :confused:

So that's my story - what's yours?

My first ride was an '81 ATC 70 I got when I was 4, from there I moved on to my first bike which was a '74 XR 75

I started on a 197? Honda 50 with a big seat, plastic grips, and a steel frame, steel tank, and steel fenders. Very dangerous and very heavy for a kid. Bikes increase lead 4 to 2

A bike, a Ducati Mountaineer 90, then Suzuki RM80. Never have ridden a quad to any extent.

8th grade on my Dad's 1974-5? TY-250 Trials bike. I promptly smashed it into the house so my "first ride" was not very long. I rode it a few more times before winter set in and then in Febuary of '85 my Dad bought my brother and I left over Suzuki LT 185 Quad Runners. Wow, were they fun! I guess technically I started off on a bike but until the spring of '87 when I got a left over '85 IT 200 the Quad Runner was my main ride.

Now I've got one or a few of everything; bike, quad and snowmachines. I love them all. Depending on my mood and the time of year, each one is my favorite type of machine. But, only the motorcycle gives me that special feeling. Hard to explain. :)

Quad...then I remember watching dirtbikes on T.V and after plenty of begging and talking my dad bought me one.A 93 Rt-180 after that I couldn't get enough of it.;)

First bike I ever rode was a 1977 XL 75 and I loved it. Then I got a 1977 IT 175 and loved it even more, then I got a 98 KDX 220 and loved it twice as much than anything Ive ever owned!! Ive never done more than sit on a quad an I dont plan on doing anything more than just sitting on one :)

The first thing I rode was a early 80's YZ80 when I was about 6. I was a short little bugger back then & my feet were a long was from the ground.

I remember watching the bike tear aound the paddock under control of it's owner, man that thing breathed fire!! Next thing I know I'm wearing a carved out bowling ball & been shown how a clutch works. I stalled it the first couple of times (of course), then once I got moving I was loving it. The noise, the smoke & the speed - I had to have one - but under my parents guidance I ended up with a '78 ATC 70, close but not enough...;)

Moved up to a Peugeot 103SP. 73kph whoo hoo!!

First bike w/ suspension was a 73 (i think) xr75.

I guess my first ride was really a quad - but my dad called it the station wagon.:confused:

my first ride was on a 93' rt 180 and i've only ridden 1 quad in all my life and frankly i thought it sucked and was actually very boring, i'm sticking to 2 wheels from now on

'72 Suzuki 350, my brother on back, age 10. I own quads and enjoy them but I got to have a two wheel machine. Did my first wheelie on the 350, shifted to second gear and dumpted the clutch, almost lost my brother but was still fun.:p

Honda ATC 110 that was all mine, did not have to share with brothers.
I don't remember the year model, around 78. man I loved that 3 wheeler
had it for years, It was abused..

Haha, I have a mini bike like that right now! Sure gets scarey when you forget that you have no brakes but your feet and need to stop really fast.

My first ride was on a xr50r at my friend's house. Since then I have been into bikes. I still remember when I almost flip the thing.

I first rode my uncle's 2000 Polaris Trailblazer 250 quad. Ever since then I've been addicted to off-roading. Since then I've had a KLX300, which I got rid of, and now I have a 2001 Honda 300EX. Hopefully I'll get a 250 MX bike soon.

95 300ex :scream: I thought that quad screemed until I got my yz125 I could not understand my a motor more that twice as big was twice as slow:p However that quad really helped me learn how to ride my bike, mainly the clutch however,
hey that's what they should do! With everynew dirtbike you get a training manual (a.k.a quad) then when your done you just throw it out and ride your bike!
