My frist ride was a 1972 Honda CT 70, I was 8 saved my money did my chores and my dads friend sold it to me for $220. Funny now I am looking for that same deal again. The fold down bars, man that was a great bike.:D
First ride? Quad. Fisher-Price "Tike Bike". Back when they were made out of wood. Fast forward 33 years to March 2000, a 98 DR350. FF 3 months, a 2000 DRZ400E. FF one more year, a 2001 kTm 250 MXC.:)
That poor Tike Bike. Took a hell of a beatin' in those 33 years, but it served me well and I figured it was time to move up.:D
better then nothing, I just turned 7 when my dad pulls up in the drive way with this Blue bike in the back of his truck, I had to walk it to a tree stump so i could kick start it and ride it because it was a tad to big for me.
this was the one with the dual springs in the rear and the metal gas tank....did I say TANK?...
My first ride was a '72 DT250. My dad got it off of my cousin(for $100, I think) and I rode it until I killed it(which wasn't very long, as I was 12-14 and didn't know how to take care of it:( ). I loved that bike, but hated the exhuast routing. OUCH! Don't know how many times I singed myself on that thing. After that, '8? Kawi Bayou 300. I thought it was Quadzilla the way I rode it. Quads are fun to play on for a little bit every couple of years or so, but that's about it. As a matter of fact, the only thing I like about them is the sliding.
B&S powered mini-bike somewhere 'round 1974, followed shortly after by my 1st ride on a "real" bike: a clapped-out Yamaha GT-60 ... been on (addicted to :) ) two-wheelers ever since. Only spent about 15 minutes total on ATV's in the 26yrs since that fateful day ....
OK, this'll date me like the others:
Other then my Briggs & Straton, my first "real" ride was a Honda CB160 in the dirt! My first bike was a '73 or 74 TM125 Suzuki.
The only quads back then were the water-pumper dune buggies our church group had:scream:
Whats a quad? My first ride was the nicest fastest chrome-framed Briggs & Stratton mini that my dad bought a kick starter for it. What a racer. Then I quickly moved up to a screamer - a Honda QA50 with fold down handlebars:scream:. Then on to a 1971 Honda SL 125. Boy could that thing hit the jumps. NOT!:o
My first was a 1976 Suzuki TS100 given to me by the wife of one of my lawn mowing customers. I think she wanted to get rid of the thing. I loved it. If she only knew what she was starting.:)
Also, first ride ever is a '94 Liquimatic Go-Ped, 2nd is a Sport Go-ped, both around 20 mph. 3rd is a Big-foot Go-Ped with x-can, around 25 mph. Last, my Super Bigfoot Go-Ped with Jet-Pro pipe,K&N filter, Flowsystem engine mount and Ruthless spindle-around 35 mph. I love pedding even though i have a bike. www.gopednation.com im on the FL Race Team
The first bike I rode was my Great Uncle's Bultaco 100. Was a late 60's vintage I believe. Chrome fenders, shifter on the right side, rear brake on the left. Interesting to say the least. Later that same year Dad bought me a 73 TM 75 Suzuki for $350. I'm proud to say we still have the TM. I ride it every time we go home to see the folks.
I traded a BMX bike a 40 bucks to a kid who was moving to NY City and needed a bike not a cycle. It was a 82 Yamaha MX 100. It had no gas in it so I pushed it home about 6 miles smiling all the way. Got it home and fired up and never looked back. When my mom came home and demanded I take it back I would not tell her where I got it :) . That bike was a little work horse, rode it everywhere for ever and it never broke wich is good cause I didnt have any money for parts and my mom would not take me to the shop for them even if I did :) .
I had an IT 250 along the way too, those bikes were great! Every one I rode with called it the Iron Horse cause I beat the rubber off it and it never broke and always started 1st kick :) .
Some years later my mom actualy tried to learn to ride a motorcycle and broke her leg on a Rebel 250,,,, serves you right mom! :p
<marquee> Speedy Motorcycle,,,, I love you,,,, do do do da doo do<marquee>
First ride- Honda Odyssey-no, not the van!
First bike-'79 XR185-may she rest in peace.
2nd-'84 XR250
3rd-'84XR500, Al Baker mods.
4th-'89 KTM250MX
Current- KTM360E/XC
The Odyssey belonged to my wifes' sister. My brother-in-law talked me into going 'riding' with him. It was my first off-road experience, and I swore I had to have one of these things. The brother-in-law convinced me that 2 wheels was the way to go, hence, my first 2 wheeler purchase, the XR.
The 2 wheeled learning curve was steep, as my riding partner and teacher was an ex 250 pro moto-crosser. It didn't matter though, as I found one of my great passions in life-motorcycles!
:)
My first solo trip on anything with an engine was on my friend's 1988 Yamaha Warrior. Then he got a 1989 Honda TRX250R, man did that thing have power! I think I got my 1981 Yamaha YT125 three wheeler running after that. Then a few years ago I got my 1995 KDX 200, yee-haa! Man do I love the two wheelers! So I guess my progression went 4-3-2. Hey maybe next I'll get a motorized unicycle!
