I'm rebuilding my 86 KD80 and decided to paint everything so it looks better. I got to the tank and found it was full of rust. The previous owner left a full tank of gas in it while it was in storage. How can I effectivly get the rust out, neutralize it or anything but won't have anything in it so that it could mix into the gas and ruin it. Any help would be appretiated.

Rust Check...

I just got some rust check rust eater gel. It should do the trick. I'm gonna rinse the tanks with gas a couple of times to get rid of any excess. Then I should be good to go.

Like he said, you may want to check into a liner. One of the Kreem products is a tank liner, the other is a cleaner. You may want to lok into it.

Ive heard of people putting some small pebbles in the tank with a little gas and shaking it around and then rinse it out with more gas and repeat. I havent' tryied this so im not sure how well it works. Worth a try though.
