I'm just wondering if any1 knows if you can remove the steering stem on a 03 CR250 or any other honda around that time? i decided to mess up the lower dust seal, and the bearing will not come off. so i figure if i could remove the stem, i could get the bearing off the opposite way. my local dealers say it's welded, but they've lied to me before. so i thought i'd ask on here.

also, what's a good brand of bearings?

thanks

The bearing is pressed onto the stem.. You should be able to get off with a bearing puller, available at most any autoparts stores or sears.

The stem is also pressed into the bottom clamp, not welded on.

You need to quit going to that dealer...

If you can't fit a puller on cuz the steering stops prevent it, you may be able to break the roller retainer on the bearing off and then mount it to the top ridge of the bearing. Pivot works probably makes a steering stem kit that has all the parts you need.

Indy's right, the stem is pressed into the lower triple clamp. There's usually a C-clip in there so make sure you remove it before trying to press it out...and use anti-seize on the stem when reinstalling it
