Thanks everyone for the help. I restored a 73 Yamaha DT250 about a year ago and you foks were very helpful. I trail ride it regularly and just took it to Silver Lake sand dunes here in MI.
I can't belive how it tore up the dunes. Everyone there was impressed with my machine. I really love this old tank. It turned out to be a hill climbing monster.
Has anyone tried to replace the rear shocks with front shocks from a quad? Is there any drawbacks? Does anyone know which ones will fit?
One more question... Are the KNN filters used on cars the same as the one designed for dirtbikes???
Thanks again. This bike is great

Yes, the K&N filters on cars are the same on bikes and they make neat "filter covers" for you Duner guys to keep the sand outa the exspensive stuff. Kinda like pantyhose for your filter.

Neat thing about K&N's is cleaning them, unless the Mrs. catches you rinsing them out in the kitchen sink, then the doo will fly :) DO buy the oiling/cleaning kit, 'must have' stuff.

As for the shock question, measure overall length and travel of your current set-up along with mount bolt O.D. and start snooping, the quad stuff that will fit, CAN'T be any worse than what's on the bike already, and the duner guys I work with (they all play at Wynoka, Ok.) are loving the "Shock Savers " shock and seal saver bootie things, saving them a ton on rebuilds.

Hey:

Problem with quad shocks is they are designed to only support 1 A arm. Where as a motorcycle has 2 shocks on the swingarm. I think you will find putting quad shocks on will be the spring rate will be way too high making your bike ride like a truck.

Thanks for the info. The shock covers are a great idea. I also do alot of trail riding. A truck like ride will not be too comfortable. I will take this info and let you know what end up with.
