I'm not embarassed to like anysong. Even the latest hit by Shakira. If the lyrics hit me or the beat is catchy I say what the hell. If people don't like the song they should just put on some ear phones and listen to what they like. No need to bother me. I am a major Gothic, Punk and metal lover but I don't say I hate pop. The lyrics are quite strong. Anyone listen to ellis paul??
hmm:think

OK, I can relate to his situation because I play in a country band too but that doesn't mean I listen to contry, in fact I rarely listen to any music at all anymore. I don't even know most of the cover songs untill I have to learn them but then again my band plays mostly original songs. I do enjoy singing old Restless Heart but I also get to sing a lot of the old rock songs we play, Frampton, ACDC and some of the other un-smooth stuff.

Why is it I don't see any of the 80's hair bands mentioned? I thought for sure I'd see some Dokken, Poison, Rat & so on. Gosh, I didn't even see any VH. :ugg:

Okay, I'll fess up. I didn't even like those kinds of bands back when they were popular but now I kinda like em' :scream: I almost bought one of those "Glam Rock" compilation CD's off of the TV once! Of course, it was very late and I had had a lot of wine.......... that's my story and I'm sticking to it! ;)

I don't know if I am embarassed about the song, but this was kinda embarasing. I was driving with a young pretty co-worker (I'm happily married so no funny stuff) and Judas Priest "living after midnight" came on. Not my favorite priest, I like the heaveir stuff, but I cranked it up a little anyway. The song ends....:ugg: :ugg: :ugg: the DJ comes on and says

That was Living after midnight on your FAVORITE OLDIES STATION!!:eek: :eek:

I'll say that I'm not a big fan of Dokken or Rat but I see no problem with Poison and Van Halen is classic stuff. Who can forget Running with the Devil or Panama. David Lee Roth was a god in those days.

Now if you do want to see something that was embarrising about 80's music it was the hair, espicially the mullets. I laugh whenever I see one. www.mulletsgalore.com is a classic site that shows some of that great 80's hair, which unfortunately some people still have :ugg:

Proud Mullet wearer from 1983-1998... RIP

One night in the garage, laying under a car, I got my hair wrapped around one of the wheels on the creeper... there I was stuck under the car. I got the long part cut off the very next day. what was left of it.

Country--I'll listen to Junior Brown if nobody's around. I'll even listen to Asleep At The Wheel's Bob Wills tribute album. That's IT, though. Okay, maybe some Lyle Lovett on occasion. But that's ALL!

I get some pretty strange looks when I listen to Computer World by Kraftwerk. People point and laugh when I ride by listening to Da Da Da by Trio.

Skankin' To The Beat by Fishbone is my #1 guilty pleasure though.

I got two songs that will beat any "most embarrassing song" out there:
1-DELTA DAWN-Tanya Tucker
2-HARPER VALLEY P.T.A.-Jeannie Riley
To beat all, I like to sing along with these songs!
Yeah, I sound pretty:uh:

Ok, I'm not embarrassed to say I like country, even though around the shop here it's anathema. I just bought the Trick Pony CD . . . that's a good one!
"C'mon fill it to the top / 'cause I hit rock bottom this time!"

But I'll fess up to liking all the 80s hair bands. Poison, some Bon Jovi, Motley Crue, and so on . . . I won't tell you what I still have in my CD case (replaced when the tapes wouldn't play anymore).

And . . . all the music my mom listened to when I was a kid, I still like when I'm at her house. Laura Branigan, Taylor Dane, Belinda Carlisle . . . it's nice quiet background music.

Stormer,
Did you pin the rest of it on the garage wall? I've got a buddy that has a mullet. I tell it is only cause he was in the Air Force during the 80's, and he's trying to act 21 again.

Got another song that I get laughed at for liking:
Wrapped around each other;
Tryin' so hard to stay warm;
That first cold winter together;
Lyin' in each others' arms;
Watching those old movies;
Fallin' in love so desperately;
Firecracker, I was your hero;
And you were my leading lady;
We had it all;
Just like Bogey and Bacall;
Starring in our own late, late show;
Sailing away to KEY LARGO

HA,HA, just funnin' with ya!:confused:

FC22 your still wet behind the ears if you remember those singers as your moms music! :p
Belinda Carlisle... what a babe in the 80's. Ok, ok... The Go Go's had some great music in the early 80's. Like many others, I'm so ashamed.

One morning when my wife took the boy to school, Bust A Move came on the radio... she turns it up right when he is getting out of the truck. Little Sawtooth was soooooo embarrassed. He now rides the bus to school cause he was so ashamed.

JP man I thought I was about the only human to actually like Junior Brown! Now I know I don't walk alone. Might be a bit scary if Gomer pipes up though :eek:

Iron Princess, Hank Senior and Junior and of course Willy, Waylon, and the boys.:)

Not that I actually like the songs but they get stuck in my head sometimes because my wife watches figure skating and Rudy something is really in to the Village People songs.

OK OK I'm coming clean.

I didn't just like one Wham song. I LIKED THEM ALL!

Ah it feels good. Confession is good for the soul! All those times I had to pretend to hate Wham around my friends back in the 80s. I was wearing my mullet long and stringy and had my Ozzy cassettes at my side, when all I really wanted to hear was Careless Whisper on Light Rock K97 FM! :o

Embarrassing?

Haven't read anything too bad yet.

I ama product of the '80's,I like everything from DEVO and Pet Shop Boys to Vanilla Ice and NWA. Some of my favs were the Hair bands, with VH and Poisen at the top. Heck, Breakfast Club is still one of my top 10 favs movies.

I actully met my wife by asking to dance to "Swingin" by John Anderson at Rowdy Cowboy night at the local bar. Even seen Garth Brooks in concert twice. One heck of a show.

I even like sone Disco, ABBA still gets my toes tapping.

But the one thatI keep quiet about is my 6yr old daughters fav, Aaron Carter. Took her to his concert at the MN State Fair. I was thinking it would be a canned muzak and lip sincing. Boy was I wrong. The kid is like 13-14 and he is a natural showman. Live band and everything.

Ya, and to top it off, little Aaron races MX. Another performer from the DFW area races, does anyone remember Vanilla Ice? I've never seen him at any tracks but I hear he's quite good. I hated his music.

I like most music but I did a show last year opening for Hank III and he sucked big. He was a real nice guy though only he kept calling me sir:confused:

Ah, Hank Jr. I can sit and listen to some of that all day.

Nobody wants to get drunk and get loud,
All my rowdy friends have settled down.

and of course Willy, Waylon, and the boys.:)

Let's go to Luchenbach, Texas,
Where ain't nobody feelin' no pain.
:)

And Predator2 is the biggest Johnny Cash fan in the world! I can remember when he was two and kept beggin' to hear that "burnin' ring of fire song, daddy!":cool:
