Hi,
Just installed a full exhaust system TI 4 on my CRF450 2003 , power is good but since i have fitted it the bike is harder to cold start , i have to kick 6-8 times before it was 2 or 3 times!!!(the bike has only 4 hours and never did it before the TI4)The bike seems to be not too lean and not too rich(if i pull the hot start lever while the engine is running the idle slow down and the engine wants to stop , if i turn out the fuel screw(richer)the idle goes too high). The throttle response is good , just seems to rev faster.WHEN hot , starts first kick!!
Do you have some tips or advices for me ?
Best regards.

It has to be your jetting on the pilot.   I would try and go richer.

Sorry, to here you are having troubles, but I think it is your jetting. Try this...172 Main Jet, Standard 42 Pilot Jet, Standard OBELR Needle, 5th Position, and 1 1/2 out on the air screw. Let me know if you still have problems.

Work nice with your tips(i didn't move the needle clip) but i have to play a lot with the fuel screw due to very changing t° here in Belgium!!!
Thanks again. :thumb:

Hi,
the bike works well but i had a strange thing:with 172 main and 42 pilot (1 1/2 turns out on the fuel screw) the bike is hard to hot start in gear if stalled( t° : -1 to +5°).I was thinking it was too lean cause it started (4 to 7 kicks)without pulling the hot start lever so i went to 2 turns out on the fuel screw , but nothing changed. This week i made an experience : i let the bike warmed up in my garage (it was almost freezing) then i changed the pilot to a 40 and 1 1/2 out on fuel screw(smaller than the stock so) and let the bike stalled in gear several times , each time she started first kick with the use of the hot start lever!!!!!!!!!After that I removed the 40 and reinstalled the 42 , problem was the same : it was a b.tch to start(4-7kicks)without the hot start lever in gear , if i pulled the hot start lever she didn't start!!!Another thing with the 42 pilot when the bike is stalled in gear and i kicked the bike wants to move a little forward and with 40 she doesn't move even 1 cm.Strange no ?! It's unbelievable cause it seems to be too lean but if you go richer on the pilot : problem ; and leaner no more problem!! Do you have an opinion on that?
The bike is not bogging or backfiring.
Thanks for your answer and see ya.

I will tell you what. Sorry, I didn't get back to you soon, but I have been in Indy for the Motorcycle Trade Show. I am not going to try to solve this problem over the internet because we are going to keep going back and forth. I really want to help you out, so please call (888) PC-Rules and ask for Dave Chase in our service department...he is the four-stroke king (tell him I said that). He will walk you trough some things to try. I think you are having some other issues with the bike, but Dave Chase will be able to get to the bottom of it. Thanks for your patience and support.
