I just wanted to post a note that I have hung up the helmet for good. I had a pretty bad crash on mothers day, and my son Patrick saw the whole thing, and he thought I was dead. another poor planned line, on my part, and I came off somewhere between 45-50 mph in a rock field. several fractures, and many, many bruises. There was NO WAY I could just ride slow, so I'm given it up. Patrick will retain his bike for the moment, but it too will be going at some point. all the stuff is going.....................
We as a family, will still be popping in and out of here on a daily basis because this was, or should i say, you folks, were a part of our lives. :(
the master plan as of now, is to upgrade the camper, again, and REALLY hit the campgrounds hard! I had thought of a PWC for the fam, but thats still in the discussion stage.
Hey, I gotta have some sort of a toy!!!!!

Don't like to see people leave the sport, but you have to do what you think is best for you and your family.

Don't forget about us. Pop in from time to time M'kay?

That crash sounds bad, hope the recovery goes well and quickly. :( Sorry to hear that the decision had to be made, but can understand. But it happening to one of the classic DRN families? That's just not right.
(check them out on DirtWeek.Com : http://dirtweek.com/what.html , second pic on the left ).

As others have said, we'll be here, don't be a stranger, let us know what you're doing to replace the rush! Take care and the best to your family.

sorry to hear about your experience. I've lost a brother to a motorcycle accident and it took years before I got on one again. I also have a friend who picked up PWC instead and his daughter was killed on the back of it. The point of my post is this, if you have the need for something of entertainment involving speed/adrenaline then you simply must accept the risk that comes with it. If you feel you can no longer accept the risk that's understandable, but don't quit dirtbiking to pick up something else dangerous in the interest of safety!

Thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery, whatever you decide to do!

Decisions made for the right reasons are not always easy to make. Family first, then your job, then your hobbies. I've got my future project setting waiting for the day I hang up my helmet and it will be offroad. You'll always be a dirtbiker at heart so get you a Loud Sucks sticker for your Jeep or other offroad toy. Stop in when you can.

Sorry to hear, and I hear 'ya about NOT being able to back off the throttle :ride:

BTW, what is a PWC?

And, as an X-avid off-roader(was sick of getting stuck ALL the time), get a Jeep or Samurai and throw a full cage in it (IMO the latter), then all of your family can trail run :) They are light and very tow-able.

In the mean time, I'm selllin my stuff at a furious pace! Linda and I have aggreed on a new fifth wheel, and this one has TRIPLE slides! Now thats campin!!!

Heal up.. If you go the pwc route, ought too look into a stand up jet ski.. Challenging enough too keep it interesting.. You can find some pretty good deals on them too..
Get well,
Rick
