transmision in exc vs mxc 200 ktm

I am purchasing a ktm 200 and am wondering what the difference between the wide ratio and close ratio transmision is in the exc model vs the mxc. Is there a top speed difference? I ride and race in the midwest, and am wondering if the two models have any limiting factors for different types of riding, aside fom the lighting package.
