A friend and I rode from state rd mccct north of Baldwin to 72 +131 some years ago and it took about 4 hrs with breaks and beaver dam crossings, but that was in the spring. I rode with you ted and woodsy 2 years ago at sow after the main ride and from what I remember if your son is as fast as you maybe you can pull it off. Wish I could go and good luck! 1TRAK

Are you starting from the Holton parking lot on Brunswick rd or maybe Cedar Creek lot? Might join you for a couple of hours with KTM.

We are starting from my parent's place on West Lake at 0700. We are initially going to ride a limited amount of single track in an attempt to make the Whitecloud trailhead by 0800. We will be gassing up there and heading for the next gas stop at Bowman Bridge.

You can join us if you like but we will be riding mostly roads and two tracks until we get to Whitecloud.

I plan to jump on the Holton Loop off Blue Lake Road and ride up to Raymond....two track it to Brunswick (single track between Raymond and Brunswick was closed last time I was there).....west to Schow and then all the way up to St. Huberts via 184th and then on east from there.

I was thinking that way would be best, too :coocoo:

You better not crash, dad, cause i have no idea where any of those places are.

I think I know where you're starting from, my friend Dan S. has a place on East Lake drive-Hart lake. I'll bring my XR if you're going to be making time toward White Cloud. The section of the Holton trail that was closed south of Brunswick is open now, rode on it wednesday.

It was great to have you escort us for a while! Thanks so much for the map and the shortcut suggestions.......they helped save us some time. That section of the Big O was in great shape too. Big fun!

Tim And Ian - I had no doubt you would make it! Very cool - Next the Mac Bridge?

Craig

Hey buddy..........I owe you a call!

We were thinking about you when we crossed 115. We would have dropped by but we were a little pressed for time at that point, LOL! Tanya and Hannah sat in the truck at Baxter Bridge for two hours waiting for us. The trail from 55 up to 115 and beyond KICKED OUR BUTTS! I wanna go back and ride that stuff again when we're fresh........we had logged 140 miles already when we crossed 55 going north

We held up pretty good physically but we were pretty punch drunk near the end. It's a wonder we made it through the Grand Traverse system without getting lost.....I was losing my attention span and had trouble focusing on the little orange markers. We missed several turns and had to back track. I was so happy when we finally crossed 72!

Hey, are you up for a 200 mile color tour this fall?

Awesome ride guys, my pleasure to meet up an ride with you for awhile. Glade the route suggestions helped. I should have rode on to the White Cloud lot as my daughter was about a hour late getting out of Chi town. How was the road from 120 toWhite Cloud?

Likewise, it was great having you ride along. The road east was dirt all the way until it ended......scenic too! Then we just popped up to 120 and took that east for a mile or two more to the trail head.

Sure - I am up for a Fall color tour! We need to plan the dates around racing...

In other news:
I was warned on a seasonal road within the Grand Traverse system by the DNR Sunday that I did not have DOT tires. It was "put on my record" and next time I'm told I will get a ticket.

Heat up some old typwriter keys and sssstamp them right in place. Done.

But the officer that inspected my Honda looked for the DOT numbers on the tire and not just the DOT stamp so some know there is more to it than just the letters DOT.

I was thinking of a set of ¼”steel stamps, a torch to heat them up, and a D/A sander to remedy the NFHU warning.

Pirelli Scorpion Pro is identical to the S-12 front and is already DOT legal. Don't have to try and stamp out the "Not for highway use".

Yes, I have heard that those are a very good tire. Do they sell a DOT legal option for the rear? How are they priced? Are they as affordable as S-12’s?
