I have an 04 KX 250 with a frame painted silver and its worn down to the steel around my shifter and brake. Just wondering if theres a good paint that will last a while to touch it up with.
Get frame guards and be done with it. Or you could use some roll on or spray can bedliner material to cover it and get a grippy surface. I'm impressed with Duplicolor rattle can for this type of application or Herculiner is a good off the shelf roll on option. Just don't choose either to actually line the bed of a truck as they are not great for that application LOL!
Frame guards were the only way to go with steel frame bikes. Every bike I've owned, all my buddies, kids. and everyone elses wore in those same exact spots. Like Pantless said " Get frame guards and be done with it".
Factory paint, and any other, simply does not last there if you have decent form. Within a few hours the paint will rub off. If you must paint, use automotive grade paints. You could also try powder or anodizing. Frame guards are obviously the best option to protect that area of the frame. Protect the metal before installation.
