wiring help needed for cdi unit

A little help with removeing the headlight please?

I'm removeing the lights from my 01 kdx 220 and I have no idea about the cdi unit, and the voltage regulator. Dose the cdi need the regulator or is it just for the lights? they are tied together by a wire and I thought the lights was the only thing the regulator was used for.

Well For everone that read it and didn't know, the wire that joins the cdi and vr unit was a common groung wire, i had to split the wiring harnes and trace the wire but the cdi dosen't need the regulator.
