XR250 odometer not working plus an oil leak

My odometer on my xr250 doesnt work. i am wondering if anyone knows of common things that can go wrong with it and how to fix it. i am not sure just what part is wrong on it but it doesnt keep track of the miles. Does anyone know how th fix them. Also there is an oil leak coming out of the counter sproket do i need to fix it or should i just leave it go. Is there a common seal that goes bad? any information will be apriciated. Thanx

i have been too lazy to change my cs seal, even though I have the replacement. I have heard it takes 5 min to do, anyone know the trick to this?

Have you checked to see if the odometer cable is broken?

to replace CS seal, take off the chain guide and front sprocket, there may or may not be a retaining ring holding the seal in,check to make sure there isn't, carefully pry out the old seal and tap the new one in place, reinstall ring (if there was one) and put the sprocket back on, then go ride :D
