what an idiot.drained my oil today and forgot to put the crush spacer/washer back on the drain bolt, tightened it up which caused a crack right down the inner and outer side where the bolt goes.nothing has broken off so im wondering,if i clean the inner thread with a twisted rag, slam some silicone sealant on the bolt thread -tighten up then apply more silicone to the head of the bolt and around the crack from the outside, leave to dry 24hrs then put oil back in ,will this hold up?any ideas appreciated please

For a while, provided you get it really clean.

I have a friend who races an old XR500 motor in his flattrack bike, it has more JB Weld & RTV on it than should be allowed by law. It still works just fine.
